Former IBF World Champion Joshua Clottey has accused his former manager Vincent Scolpino of cheating him during his fight against Manny Pacquiao in 2010.
In an interview on Joy News' Prime Take, Clottey revealed that Scolpino had accepted a payment of $1 million, while he had negotiated a sum of $1.350 million. Clottey said that he had been promised $2 million for the fight, but the manager only negotiated $3 from each Pay-per-view, which was $100, for each viewer, which would only be earned after 300,000 buyers. He added that the manager was making a 33% profit from each Pay-per-view income, including the fight money.
Clottey expressed regret for not making more money and for allowing Scolpino to negotiate on his behalf. He also said he was not happy with the Pacquiao fight and that he had tried to renegotiate, but was told if he couldn't fight, he should leave. Clottey's performance during the fight was criticized by fans, despite not suffering a knockout.
