GES releases SHS placement; first-years to report to school on 20th February, 2023

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the Senior High School (SHS) placement for the 2022/2023 academic year. The release of the placement follows a rigorous process of selection and placement of students who sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in 2022.
According to the GES, the SHS placement was done based on the selection of students' preferred schools and their academic performance in the BECE. The process was transparent and fair, ensuring that all eligible students were placed in a school. Students who did not make a selection were automatically placed in a school.
With the SHS placement now released, first-year students who have been placed in various senior high schools are expected to report to their respective schools on February 20, 2023. The GES has urged all students to report to school on time to begin the academic year.
The academic year promises to be exciting, with schools now being equipped with modern facilities to enhance the teaching and learning process. In addition, the government has introduced several initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education in Ghana. These initiatives include the free Senior High School policy, which has made it possible for thousands of students to access secondary education.
The GES has called on all stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and students, to play their part in ensuring that the academic year is successful. Parents are urged to support their children by providing them with the necessary resources, including books and school fees, to enable them to excel in their studies. Teachers are also expected to provide quality teaching and guidance to the students to enable them to achieve their academic goals.
In conclusion, the release of the SHS placement is a significant milestone in the educational journey of every student who sat for the BECE in 2022. The GES must be commended for the transparent and fair process used in selecting and placing students in schools. With the right support and dedication from all stakeholders, the academic year promises to be a success for all students.
