Ghana Education Service Releases 2024 SHS Placement Results

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially released the Senior High School (SHS) placement results for 2024, marking a significant step in Ghana’s educational journey. Out of the 505,486 students who sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) this year, 447,698 have secured automatic placement in various senior high schools, technical, and vocational institutions. This achievement is a result of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), which aims to streamline admissions into secondary institutions nationwide.

To support students who did not gain placement in their preferred schools, the GES is offering a self-placement option. This allows students to select schools with available spots, ensuring equitable access to education even for those who couldn’t meet certain cut-off criteria.

GES encourages parents and students to check their placements promptly on the CSSPS portal to facilitate a smooth admission process. The government’s Free SHS initiative has made secondary education accessible to many Ghanaians, easing the financial burden on parents and providing broader learning opportunities.

As students prepare to begin this new academic phase, the GES emphasizes the importance of verifying admission details, avoiding unofficial fees, and following authorized procedures. The timely release of placements and robust support from the GES underscore the government’s commitment to equitable education and building a knowledgeable workforce for Ghana’s future.
